Sunday, June 9, at noon, is Bring a Friend Sunday at Friendship Baptist Church and also a luncheon to raise money for Jerry Roberts and his family. The meal will be pork loin and the trimmings. There will not be a charge but the cost is by donation. If anyone has found a Morrilton class ring and/or another small child's ring in or around VHS  this week, please return it to the high school office.  It belongs to one of our students and it has great sentimental value, according to vice-principal Simmons.

Evy McKissack , a fourth grader at VES, was presented a trophy and a $100 gift card from First Security Bank Tuesday for accelerated reading. The student has accomplished 700 AR points topping the previous record at the school of 674 points. Teachers said she has read many chapter books.  Her mother said she reads everything “even cereal boxes.” She’s just not tested on them, she added.
 

VPS third graders presenting Greek play....

What a glorious day. What a glorious city. Our city does not have a name, said a third grader in one of seven Greek plays presented Wednesday by third graders at VPS in the class of teacher Elizabeth Sowder.  The students have been studying about Greek mythology, the land and also the customs. Also, each student made a power point and mask in connection with their studies.
