Everyone invited to Celebrate Vilona Block Party...free activities.

The Celebrate Vilonia Block Party is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, in the vacant parking lot between Kieth’s Service Station and the Dollar General.

There will be free food, inflatables and pony rides. Everyone is invited and there is no cost. The event is being sponsored by The Valley Church that was housed in the shopping center and downed by the tornado.

The 5K RUN/WALK to the Veterans Museum is set for Nov. 8, honoring those who are currently serving in the military and those who have served in the past.

Board of Education meeting makes announcements following executive session....

A special Vilonia Board of Education meeting held Tuesday night, about 20 minutes, mostly in executive session, to discuss personnel matters, resulted in the following announcements: Keith Rorie was hired as seventh grade football coach and Kenny Waites was hired as a high school baseball coach. The board accepted the resignation of Jacob Roper, a middle school teacher and seventh grade football coach.

VMS will have brick in walkway at Museum of Veterans....

The Museum of Veterans and Military History in Vilonia has announced a brick will be placed in a walkway at the museum honoring students at VMS for their donation to the museum's rebuilding project after it was downed by the April tornado.  The brick will say Vilonia Middle School 2014-15.

Terina Atkins, media specialist at Vilonia Middle School, estimated about 500 students participated in the Red, White and Blue Social held Friday night with the proceeds going to the Museum of Veterans and Military History which was downed by the April tornado.

Seventh grader Karigan Broach at Vilonia Middle School said she will carry on the work of her hero Angela Payne—to raise money for cancer research. Buckets painted turquoise are placed around the Middle School. On them, it reads September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Join me in honor of our friend Angela Payne.
