A former Vilonia teacher Kendall Denman paid a visit to the FA library, Friday, to share some of her favorite poems in honor of National Poetry Month including one written by a student.
Invited by Sherry Loyd, media specialist, Mrs. Denman read poems and visited with the students while they ate lunch. She told the students she was not teaching currently but, instead, staying home with her six month old child.
Songs are poetry, she said. Songs are words on paper with music behindthem. Poetry is set out to create a mood, she added. As evidence, she played two different versions, but same words, of the song Everybody Wants to Rule the World. One version had “bouncy,” music while the other was dreary. She talked with the students about the differences.
Mrs. Loyd invited students to come to the library every Friday in April and share their favorite poems.
