A retirement get-together is to be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, May 15, at Vilonia Primary School honoring music teacher Geneva Day, who is retiring. Day is in her 20th year of teaching at the primary. She doesn't know the number of students she has taught but is sure the numbers are in the thousands. Everyone is invited to attend the event. She said she is currently teaching the grandchildren of some of her students.
Current and former Primary Melodies have a special invitation to attend.
Day is well-known to students regarding her allergy reaction to students talking loud. She begins itching also when students talk when they shouldbe quiet or when they have been instructed to pay attention.
During retirement, Day said she plan to do exactly what she wants to do when she wants to do it. On a serious note, she plans to join the Conway Women's Choir, do some traveling, and spend time with her husband and eight grandchildren. She said she will continue to give private piano lessons.
