Literacy students at FMIS burying some dead words

Sixth grade literacy students in the classrooms of teachers Josh Smith and Amber Paul, at FMIS, are focused on improving their vocabulary, writing and speech. Celebrating live and descriptive words, they buried “some dead” words recently. Students made the decision to get rid of some “boring” words in their vocabulary and signed a contract to seal the deal. Words they buried included stuff, nothing, okay, great, small and saw.    The students also read and shared their writings with their peers. Snacks were a part of the celebration.
