In the Tuesday Vilonia Board of Education run for Position 7 seat Gina McNew, Carey William Wells and Kent Charles were running against each other. McNew received nearly 38 percent with 166 votes. Wells received a little more than 33 percent with 148 votes and Charles received almost 30 percent of the vote with 133.
Candidates must receive 50 percent of the vote plus one to win and, in Tuesday's bid, there was no clear winner.
A runoff between McNew and Wells is to be held Oct. 11, with polling sites at Vilonia First Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church. Early voting will be at the Faulkner County Courthouse between Oct. 4-7.
