Teacher Kathy Moore's third grade students at VES entered the AETN PBS Kids Writers Contest. The students could choose what they wanted to write about. They had to have between 100 and 350 words in their stories. They also had to have five illustrations with their work. Twelve winners were named in all (different age/grade categories)
Jamie Walters, marketing production coordinator from AETN, visited VES and presented the class and the third place winner, Lula Stephens, with prizes.
Lula Stephens placed third in the third grade division. She received a PBS Kids bag filled with goodies and a PBS kids T-shirt. Her story is titled, The Little Girl VS. the Big Crackand it is featured with the other winners on the AETN.org website. All the students were mailed their stories back with a certificate of participation and were given PBS Kids t-shirts and other prizes as well.
