Fans have opportunity to watch Vilonia Cross Country close to home at upcoming event

By Coach John Allison

Your Vilonia Cross Country teams will run close to home Saturday, October 15. After traveling as far as Fayetteville in their first four meets of the season, they will make the short trip to Conway for the Wampus Cat Invitational this weekend. The races will take place at Beaverfork Lake.

This is a great opportunity for Vilonia sports fans to come out and support these dedicated, devoted young men and women. The high school girls team will start their race at 9 a.m., followed by the high school boys about 9:30. Both high school teams will run a 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) race. Junior high girls will begin their race around 10 a.m., with the junior high boys race set to begin near 10:30 a.m.. The junior high races are two miles long.

If you have never watched hundreds of kids line up to race multiple miles over grass, rocks, and roots, you have been deprived of an exciting experience. So do not miss this opportunity to get out and support these outstanding young Vilonia athletes.
