Parade, soup supper and auction on tap for Saturday in Vilonia
--This is not a school sanctioned event but one that parents, students and teachers may be interesting in attending.
- Saturday, Dec. 3, line up for the Vilonia Christmas parade (Visions of Christmas) begins at 3 p.m. on Industrial Drive to Cemetery (by baseball field). Judging from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Parade begins at dark estimated to be between 5:15 pm. and 5:30 p.m. To be in the parade your entry must be lit up. Also, music is encouraged. Horses are allowed. You may throw candy. There is only to be one Santa and he will be on the Vilonia Fire Department's truck. Sign up for the parade today, on the city's website or go down to city hall. Athletic director/assist. supt. Ed Sellers will lead the parade as the grand marshal.
Please plan to come to the Veterans Museum Soup Supper/Auction afterwards. Soup supper begins at 5 p.m. at the high school cafeteria for those who want to eat before the parade. The cost of soup is $5 for a bowl of hot, homemade soup/drink/cornbread or crackers and dessert with all proceeds going to museum.
For those who can't stand, plan on having a bowl of soup while you wait in the warmth (for those riding in the parade). The parade ends in the parking lot. You can look at auction items and even bid on the silent auction items. Those riding in the parade don't need to worry, the soup pots (with all kinds and homemade) will also be on after the parade and Santa will be there posing with kids. Photos free (compliments of the fire department.) Along with the soup supper, the silent auction ends when the live auction begins at about 6:30ish. There are several auction items. Something for everyone.
