Coach asks drivers to be alert observing runners on the roads...
From the desk of Coach John Allison:
It's almost that time of year again! Time for your Vilonia Cross Country runners to hit the roads. More than 80 kids, going into 7th through 12th grades, signed up to run Cross Country for the 2016 season.
This week and next week, we will have a few of these athletes on the road on Monday and Thursday. They will run after school, between 3:30 and 4:30. Starting June 1, you can expect to see most of them on the roads each Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. These summer practice sessions on the road will begin at 7 a.m.
Expect to see them on Naylor, Vilanco, Vilanco Cutoff, and Schulz Roads at these times. Please keep your eyes open, your cell phones put away, and be alert while our kids are on the roads. They put in countless miles and hours to represent Vilonia -- sweat, tears, and sometimes even blood. The last thing anyone wants is one of these young kids hit by a vehicle!
So please be aware, expect to see them on the road, and stay alert! Also, please share this with everyone you know who might be driving these roads at these times.
Thank you in advance for your concern and your caution!
