Pretend shopping trip at FMIS teaches decimals and budgeting

Teacher Jodi Brewer, at FMIS,  pretended to make a Kroger shopping trip to help review decimal operations. Groups, made up of two or three students,  were required to look through advertising flyers and "buy" two to five of each item they would like to purchase. They were given a budget of $50 and told to spend as close to it as they could without going over. They had to calculate the total cost for each item and their overall total cost. Once they had the overall cost, they had to figure out how much money each person in the group had to pay if the cost was split equally.
