VHS counselor's office releases potential scholarship opportunities for seniors


American Indian Services Scholarships

    1. 35 awards equalling $10,000

    2. Deadline: February 15, 2017


      1. Enrolled as a matriculated student in a university, college, junior college or technical school

      2. One-Quarter (1/4) enrolled member of a Federally Recognized Native American Tribe.

      3. Undergraduate student with no more than 150 semester credits or 210 quarter credits.

      4. Full-time or part-time status – excluding non-credit courses (minimum of 6 credits).

      5. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 must be established and maintained after the first term/semester of college.

Elks National Foundation Scholarship

    1. Awards 250 - $4,000

    2. Deadline: February 3, 2017

    3. The student must complete and submit the online application.  The 2017 Legacy Awards application deadline is due online by 12:00 p.m. (noon) Central Time on Friday, February 3, 2017.  

    4. Upon receipt of the application, the applicant will receive a notification that the application was received.  Winners will be announced in late April 2017.

Shred Paper to Stand Against Bullying

    1. Awards: 1 - $5,000 scholarship

    2. Deadline: January 31, 2017

    3. To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

      1. No minimum GPA or essay required.  This $5,000 easy scholarship is open to people ages 13 to 25.  You must also live in the U.S. or have U.S. citizenship.

Town & Country Garden Club Scholarship

    1. The Town and Country Garden Club will award scholarship(s) of up to $500 to eligible high school seniors who are residents of Faulkner County.

    2. Applicants must be graduating seniors, with a minimum 3.0 GPA, who are planning to pursue post-secondary education in plant science related fields such as botany or horticulture, etc.

    3. Completed applications with required attachments must arrive by Friday, March 31, 2017.

    4. Successful applicant(s) will be notified in May, 2017.

High school seniors and their families are invited to Time Out for Tech 2017, hosted by the Arkansas Tech University on Thursday, January 26.  The annual preview day provides prospective students with a chance to learn more about academic programs, student housing options and campus life opportunities available on the Russellville campus.  Come by the Counselor's office for more information.
