VHS counselor's office offers several possibilities for graduating seniors

Beauty School possibilities

 VHS Seniors come experience Beauty School at The Salon Professional Academy.  Book your enrollments appointment and receive a scholarship toward your training.  When: February 8, 2017 at 5:00 pm.  Text YOUR NAME, HIGH SCHOOL, GRADE and the words "SNEAK PEEK" to 501.515.3834.

1.     Toad Suck Daze Scholarship

a.                   Applicant must be a graduate of a Faulkner County high school, homeschooled and living within a Faulkner County school district, or currently enrolled at CBC, Hendrix, UCA, or UACCM having had graduated from a Faulkner County high school.

b.                  Applicant must attend CBC, Hendrix, UCA, UACCM, or Pulaski Tech during the upcoming Fall Term.

c.                   Applicant must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, based on a 4.0 scale.

d.                  Applicant must show proof of completing at least 20 hours of volunteer service while in high school (downloadable log sheet provided with application).

e.                  Applicant must submit a one page essay describing the volunteer service contributed to the community, how and why it benefitted the community, and what was learned.

f.                    Applicant must include three letters of recommendation: one from a supervisor where applicant provided volunteer service, one from a teacher or other education professional, and one of the applicant’s choosing.

g.                   Applicant should demonstrate financial need.

h.                  Scholarship recipients must complete 12 hours of volunteer service at the Toad Suck Daze festival this year.

i.                    Scholarship application can found on the Arkansas Community Foundation’s scholarship website,www.arcf.org/students/browsescholarships or at www.toadsuck.org/education.  Once on the scholarship website, select the central Arkansas area and scroll down until you find the Toad Suck Daze GetSmart Challenge Scholarship Endowment.  Click on the red pencil beside the name to begin the application process.  You will need to create an account to fill out the application.

The deadline to apply is March 15.

1.     Native American Scholarship Award - $500

a.                   The American Indian Center of Arkansas Scholarship Award Program is intended to encourage Native American youth in Arkansas to consider a college education as a means of realizing their full potential and providing them with a broader range of choices when careers and employment are chosen.  The program will also provide assistance with tuition, books or other college related expenses.

b.                  Deadline: April 15, 2017
