Course Fair held Wednesday allows students to get a look at FA offerings

Staff at the Vilonia Freshman Academy held a Course Fair, Wednesday, hoping to ease the anxieties of the 248 students they expect to attend the school, next year, as ninth graders.

The event was held from 8:30 a.m. until about 11:30, Wednesday in the middle school gymnasium. Parents were invited to attend. Several teachers and coaches from the academy were in attendance. The purpose, said Ramona Smith, academy counselor, was to provide students and parents the opportunity to learn more about the school’s offerings and expectations as well as to ease student’s nerves.

Students were served refreshments and encouraged to mill around the gymnasium and visit with their potential teachers.

Principal Ronnie Simmons of the Freshman Academy, addressed the students and parents saying the ninth grade is a pivotal year—one of most importance to make sure students are on the right track.
