We Dine Together March 13th

The talk will be held from 9:30-10:25 on Wednesday, March 13 in the Vilonia High School Gym with We Dine Together following afterward in the library.

This project is part of the coursework being taught by Susan Jobe, English Language
Arts teacher for 10th-12th grade, as part of her year-long participation in the Arkansas
Declaration of Learning program (ADOL). Throughout the 2018-19 academic year,
educators participating in the ADOL program use historic art and objects from state
and national museums and libraries to develop innovative lesson plans centered around
civic engagement. The students in Mrs. Jobe’s class created The Vilonia High School
Welcome Team which serves as kindness ambassadors, welcoming new students to
the district and hosting We Dine Together Luncheons, where students are able to
socialize, share challenges and successes, and build relationships during their lunch
time. The We Dine Together club proactively seeks out students who might not have
anyone to sit with during lunch and issues them a personal invitation to come and be a
part of their club. Students are given monthly challenges to complete in the areas of
acts of kindness, advocacy, and building awareness about emotional health issues
including bullying and social isolation.
