VPS RECEIVES STATE AWARD

The Arkansas Department of Education's Division of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded Vilonia Primary School with the R.I.S.E. (Reading Initiative for Student Excellence) School Award for their efforts to build and grow a strong reading program. VPS has implemented best practices that build a culture of reading as being a part of academic success and in life. In order to qualify for this Award, 90% of teachers at a school must have completed the R.I.S.E. Phase 1 Proficiency Pathway, the principal must must be a certified Science of Reading Assessor, a letter of recommendation has to be submitted from the Co-op, R.I.S.E trainer or State Literacy Specialist., and fewer than 40% of students scored In Need of Support.
