We are preparing for growth at Vilonia High School. This week, we are nearing the completion of the demolition of Building 200. Historically, this building has served multiple roles, including as an elementary school, junior high school, and additional classroom space for the high school. Originally constructed in 1963 as Vilonia Elementary School, it underwent several expansions over the years, including an addition to the cafeteria in 2007. 

During the 1978-1979 school year, a new facility was opened to accommodate 4th through 6th grades, now known as Vilonia Elementary School, which was previously called Vilonia Intermediate School. Additional renovations allowed the elementary building to serve students from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Consequently, the former Building 200 was repurposed as a middle school and junior high for several years.

The recent demolition was necessary due to the building's deteriorating condition and to reduce overall district square footage, which is important for securing state funding for new projects. In spring 2026, our district submitted an application to the Arkansas Division of Public School Academic Facilities & Transportation to construct a 1,000-seat auditorium at this location. We expect to learn whether our application has been approved in fall 2026, and by mid-2027, we will know if funding has been allocated and the amount we are eligible to receive. 

Additionally, the exterior of the VHS Fieldhouse has been repainted. Also, there will be updated signage in place by the end of the summer on that facility. 

These developments represent exciting opportunities for the Vilonia community and the Vilonia School District.
