Vilonia School District Launches Summer Feeding Program to Support Hundreds of Local Students
VILONIA, ARKANSAS — This summer, the Vilonia School District (VSD) Food Service Department is stepping up to ensure no child in the community goes hungry. Under the leadership of our Food Service Director, the team is hard at work preparing and distributing free family food boxes to hundreds of local households through the district’s Summer Feeding Program.
The initiative was designed with accessibility in mind. Registration was opened to the entire community through multiple communication channels, including VSD text alerts, the official Facebook page, and district-wide emails. To ensure every child could benefit, the program was made available to all families regardless of their typical school-year lunch status (free, reduced, or full-pay). The community response was overwhelming:
● 268 families officially registered for the program.
● 641 total students (through age 18) will be served this summer.
Combatting Hunger, Supporting Families
Food insecurity is a very real challenge that many families in our community face on a daily basis, especially during the summer months when school is out of session. The Summer Feeding Program directly addresses this gap by providing five days of meals per week for every child in a registered household up to age 18.
"We know that when school closes, the need doesn't stop," said the VSD Food Service team. "Being able to provide these boxes means peace of mind for parents and full bellies for our students."
Fueling Our Athletes
The Food Service team’s impact doesn't stop with the family food boxes. Through this
same summer program, the district will also be providing free breakfast to VSD student-athletes who are on campus for summer training and conditioning. This ensures our students are properly fueled, hydrated, and ready to perform at their best.
The Vilonia School District extends a massive thank you to our incredible Food Service Director and the entire cafeteria staff for their dedication, hard work, and care for our students throughout the summer months!

The Eagle Bookmobile is back for the 2026 summer! We will be set up in the parking lot behind the Vilonia Junior High School every Monday from 9:00 am - 11:00 am during Food Distribution. Then we will run our route on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 am - Noon. Click the link to see the route schedule!

From Coach Russell:
2026 Vilonia youth football camp was a huge success! Over 120 kids got better this week as well as the Football Program! High school Football programs become successful when there is a good relationship with the community and the community gets involved! Let’s get back to the days where high school sporting events are community events, these kids deserve it!
Thanks for everyone who had a hand in helping out, our town is blessed with really good people!
Big shoutout to Sean Barber with southern Tees for donating shirts for the camp!
