VHS FBLA members attended the District V FBLA Spring Conference at UCA on Wednesday, February 4th. We had 12 competitors qualify for the FBLA State Conference in April and an additional 7 competitors who placed in the Top 10. Austin Boyer was elected the 2026-2027 District V President. We can't wait to see how our students do at State for a chance to qualify for Nationals this summer in San Antonio, Texas. We are so proud of all our competitors' hard work and the growth we have seen in them this year!

Our senior students recently had the opportunity to hear from a guest speaker during their Intervention period. Jonathan Hughes shared insight into his chosen career as an Automotive Technician.
He discussed his personal career path, the skills needed for success, salary expectations, and the education and training required in the automotive field. Students also learned about the pros and cons of entering the workforce directly, completing an apprenticeship program, or earning an associate’s degree.

He reminded students that “the automotive world is always changing, with new technology being introduced every year. As a technician, you will always be furthering your education to stay relevant.” He emphasized the importance of being a lifelong learner and maintaining a strong work ethic.

We appreciate him taking the time to help our students understand the evolving opportunities within skilled trades.

Braden Eason, a Senior at Vilonia High School, earned the highest possible ACT Composite score of 36 on the ACT test.

About one-quarter of 1% of students who take the ACT earn a top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2024, only 3,041 out of 1.37 million students who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36.

The ACT test consists of section tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science, each scored on a scale of 1–36. A student’s Composite score is the average of the four section test scores. The score for ACT’s optional writing test is reported separately and is not included in the ACT Composite score.

“When a student earns a top score of 36 on the ACT test, it opens doors to a promising future, demonstrating for colleges and universities that they are ready for the challenges ahead,” ACT CEO Janet Godwin said. “This remarkable achievement is something we celebrate along with the student and their family.”

The ACT test is a curriculum-based achievement exam that measures what students should have had the opportunity to learn in school. Students who earn a top Composite score have likely mastered all the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in first-year college courses in the core subject areas.

ACT test scores are accepted by major four-year colleges and universities across the U.S., and they are one of the many criteria that inform admissions, scholarship award, and course placement decisions.
