FMIS October Character Assembly ❤️🦅
This month, we introduced Goal Setting and the habit Begin with the End in Mind—learning to plan ahead, set clear targets, and work toward our goals every day! 🎯✨
We also celebrated students who practiced Self-Control and Being Proactive during the month of September—taking responsibility for their actions and making smart choices even when no one is watching. Way to go!
Congratulations to our September Character Students:
Brinley Hibbard, Kade Tonino, Aubrey Buerer, Axel Orozco, Santos Us Chic, Lakynn Casey, and Sebastian Reyes. 💪🏆
Our special guest was Vilonia High School Head Football Coach Kyle Russell, along with VHS football players Jett Sanson, Brody Williams, and Jackson Ringgold. Coach Russell shared an inspiring message about setting goals, staying disciplined, and keeping the end result in focus both on and off the field. 🏈🌟
Students and athletes then took on the Cup Stack Challenge! Teams were given 25 plastic cups and 2 minutes to build the tallest pyramid possible. After using all 25 cups, a team member could attempt to flip a cone to stand upright for five bonus cups to add to their structure. The challenge required strategic planning, steady hands, and clear focus—perfectly reinforcing what it means to keep your end goal in mind under pressure. 🥤🗼
Fourth Grade and VHS Football player, Brody Williams, brought the focus and strategy to build the winning pyramid and take home the victory! Check out the photos below to see our Eagles setting goals and achieving success together! 🦅

Instead of just taking notes, students took charge—analyzing real-world environmental challenges, debating solutions, and building on each other's perspectives with thoughtful, evidence-backed arguments.
Watching them listen critically, ask sharp questions, and lead their own discussion was inspiring! The future of our planet is in great hands. 🌱💡

To crack the case, these young readers put their inferencing skills to the ultimate test. Moving beyond the text, they carefully examined clues, analyzed multiple pieces of evidence, and built rock-solid arguments to support and defend their conclusions.
We love seeing our fifth graders think critically, back up their claims with proof, and have a blast bringing literacy skills to life! 🧠💡

Our 4th graders kicked off the week with the ultimate teamwork test: Save Fred!
During the classic "Save Fred" STEM Challenge, students were tasked with helping poor Fred—a gummy worm who capsized his boat (a plastic cup)—put on his life preserver (a gummy lifesaver). The catch? Fred can’t swim, he can't touch the water, and students could ONLY use four paperclips to rescue him without touching the gummies with their hands! 🧠⚡️🌊

Our sixth graders got a chance to “sample” a variety of book genres during a fun, speed-dating-style Book Tasting! 🍴📖 With tables full of different genres, students rotated from table to table, exploring new titles, discovering different kinds of stories, and deciding which books caught their attention.💭
By the end, students had sampled a little bit of everything and picked out some new favorites to add to their reading lists! Who knew finding your next great read could be so much fun?❤️📚

Every student will receive two car tags with a unique 3-digit code on the first day of school. Whoever is picking up your student should have one of these tags displayed on the dashboard or mirror during dismissal.
